History of the model
The DB9 is not an evolution of the DB7!
First revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2004, the Aston Martin DB9 Volante is the convertible version of the DB9.
A true GT 2+2, the DB9 Volante uses a new aluminum platform called VH (Vertical/Horizontal). Reinforced by alloy panels, light and at the same time rigid, the use of a body made of aluminum has made it possible to significantly reduce the total weight, enemy number 1 of supercars, by around 25%.
The DB9 Volante is equipped with a canvas top operated by an electric mechanism, unfolding and folding in just seventeen seconds. In the event of an accident, a system triggers the safety bars placed behind the headrests of the rear seats, using sensors detecting the risk of rollover.
On the engine side, the Volante uses the equipment of the coupe: the Aston Martin V12 of 5.9 L and 48 valves of origin Ford Cosworth, 457 hp and its torque of 570 Nm.
The car is offered with a choice of sequential automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.
