This Jaguar E-Type 3.8L Series 1 Convertible was purchased on December 24, 1963 in New York by Doctor Henry N. Hillard as a Christmas present for his wife Ethel.

It remained their property until the end of their lives. 

 

The Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms Doctor Hillard as the car's first owner. It also certifies that it is still equipped with its original engine-transmission assembly, all numbers match.

 

Its sublime and unusual configuration does not leave you indifferent! This Opalescent Golden Sand color is also its original shade, it contrasts with its Light Tan interior.

 

Alongside its obvious originality, the car benefits from a range of fabulous and rarely seen old documentation, including the Jaguar manufacturer's warranty card, Jaguar periodic maintenance vouchers, its maintenance manual, etc.

 

After 45 years in the Hillard family and 28,000 miles (45,000 km) driven, the Bohnams auction house recovered the car. Being in its original state and repainted brown during its career, it needed an upgrade. It was presented at the sale on August 17, 2012, during which a renowned automobile company acquired it. 

The latter carries out a total restoration on the car. Having ourselves had the chance to restore this model, we can certify the quality of the work carried out. Certain stages of the work have been illustrated in a book which accompanies the vehicle.

 

2015, three years after the auction, the car was bought by an English professional based on the outskirts of London and therefore left the United States. It was at the end of that same year that the car returned to French territory.

 

During its test drive we covered around fifty kilometers to check the proper functioning of its mechanics and all of its accessories. What happiness! Its legendary 6-cylinder XK works perfectly, as does its gearbox.
